Is God Nordic?
For a number of years, we have been witnessing a return to the North, in other words, to a discourse the Nordic countries developed as pioneers of a model of political, social, and ethical democracy from several exemplary standpoints. In these times of doubt with regard to our own institutional and social structures, northern European countries come across as sources of inspiration, salvation, even utopia. However, this imagined virtuous world of the North has existed for a long time. It was built up through a number of narratives and representations that over time and according to custom have formed the basis for a modeling process. This paper focuses on the construction of this Nordic happiness and on the various myths that have accompanied it.
