Application of the Lipset and Rokkan Model to Belgium
Thema: Change in Political Party Systems in Europe
By André-Paul FrognierEnglish
The aim of this paper is two-fold. Firstly, it applies the Seymour M. Lipset and Stein Rokkan model to Belgium over the long term, taking into account almost the entire twentieth and the early twenty-first century. It then opens the debate over the existence of new oppositions, which correspond to the same concept of cleavages as that put forward by these two famous authors.
