This paper analyzes the ideologies structuring opposition to the EU generated by Attac-France and Attac-Germany. The paper first defines ideological and intellectual concepts based on Antonio Gramsci?s theories and his approach to the relationship between material and conceptual phenomena and between structures and actors. The main arguments of the two organizations are then compared by identifying three critical dimensions: socioeconomic (in relation to capitalism), political (in relation to a vision of democracy), and identity (as part of a framework encompassing critiques). In conclusion, the paper emphasizes the most important points arising from a content analysis and proposes elements of an explanation for this resistance to European integration.
