Since the disappearance of the socialist bloc, Cuba has passed through a period of unprecedented social change. The generational problem allows for an understanding of the validity of changes in the Cuban national revolutionary imagination. The paper examines the notion of the political generation and in particular that of the paradigmatic dimension of the Generacion del Centenario, the cognitive and connecting schema for the imagined Cuban community. In effect, the Generacion del Centenario constitutes a semantic axis in Cuban political thought along which the social is interpreted by means of its connection to politics, as politics grapples with changes in contemporary Cuban society.
