This paper compares dementia care policies in three Swiss cantons. It first presents a theoretical framework that allows for the analysis of care policies as biopolicies as well as the inclusion of a reflection on the participation of dementia sufferers and their family caregivers. It then compares the different cantonal policies. Based on these results, the paper then describes three models of biopolicies before discussing them in terms of their participative dimensions. In conclusion, the paper underlines the most important lessons of these comparative results regarding a critique of the public health in Foucault?s terms.
